SmashBack spent his teenage years in North London training his ears to the evolving sounds of Jungle and House. His love for underground music led to further training in the art of music production, working various jobs to buy music equipment for his bedroom studio. It wasn't until he left school when he got into DJ'n and started a weekly residency at The Green Man pub in London's West End. After this, he studied Music Techology at Uni & spent one of his summer breaks working for the now defunct techno institute Prime Distribution in West London. Whilst at Uni, he co-ran the legendary BULLDOZER night in the seaside town of Scarborough. At the BULLDOZER night SmashBack introduced the North East coast to Grime, Electro & Booty Bass. After moving to Manchester, SmashBack got involved with the beginning stages of the ELECTRODE night. It was this that introduced him to the residents of ALIEN RADIO, who asked him to hop aboard and help co-run their night. ELECTRODE now fills the monthly slot that ALIEN RADIO used to grace. SmashBack co-runs the Bass Gun record label with Paul Blackford, releasing quality bass-heavy electro. He has also finished a new album 'City Parks', OUT NOW.

GOOD GRACIOUS E.P - OUT SUMMER 2009

Droppin' this summer on WIDE records is the hugely anticipated release by two good pals of Manchester's underground bass scene: SMASHBACK and TEUTONIC KABOOM. The E.P is named 'GOOD GRACIOUS', and BY JOVE it is a monster!!

On this E.P you've got everything from teeth-grinding electro breaks (The Wizard of Oz, Sito), wonky-as-funk bassline mania (Keep Going), double-cummie techno (Shrewsbury Steppa), and DJ Hype influenced old skool breakbeat (Ganja Max).

Here's what the experts say:

Trevor Wilkes - Fun In The Murky:
..................................................................
"It's a proper little adventure with heart, smart, courage and a home whether it knows it or not."
"I found the strongest track on this digital release...to be 'Wizard of Oz'."

Bass Music Blog:
................................
"the PSSD remix is very 80s sounding, I think, quite 'classic electro' sounding, and pretty melodic with it."
"The Kanji Kinetic remix on the other hand, is the kind of militant 4/4 savagery you'd expect from him and will undoubtedly be melting dancefloors north and south any time soon."
